I fear the plant will never open back up, and Janesville will not let go of their hope. The city relied on gm and Parker pen way too much and the city still doesn't know what to do.

Daniel - I leraned of the Code being rear drive this Tuesday, but no one mentioned that it wasdeveloped off of the Alpha platform. Also, I only read a couple of tweets actually linking the Tru with the Converj concept - by design, mostly. The Converj link did not register with everyone since Chevrolet is using an all-petrol driveline and not the VOLTEC one set for the Converj. So far, opinions have been split between the Code and the Tru.

Erich - The Tru is actually more in tune with the market segment, but the Code appears more production ready. When I get to Chicago in 4 weeks, I hope to see them both up close to hopefully confirm my thoughts.

The Code is on the same RWD platform as the ATS. I'm fairly sure that the Tru is on the Cadillac Converj (Volt) architecture. It is quite easy to see the basic shape resemblance to the Caddy concept (that is slated for production). I didn't like the code in pictures, but looks good in the flesh. The Tru looks good.

Actually, Matt, the Orlando is competing in a sparsely competitive segment that has been predicted to take off for the past few years - small MPVs. This is where the Mazda5 and Toyota Prius V reside. I believe it will do just fine up north as it fits with urban, suburban and rural families. Where the Orlando does well is in Korea and other Asian countries where such conveyances are commonplace in urban settings.

The Chevy Orlando would be useful in the US too. The HHR is cute and fun to drive, but the Orlando looks more practical. It would also compete with the Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4, and Honda CR-V. I'm looking forward to the Dart, which could be a great seller.

I've driven three of the cars in your article—the Regal, CT, and CTS-V. Of the three, I probably spent the most time with the Regal. The handsome Buick handles well, gets decent mileage and is a good value. However, I though it was a bit short on space, did not like the dated navigation and unavailability of some luxuries such as Homelink.

The Lexus CT was in tight supply, and was also too small for me. The CTS-V was fun, but not practical. I ended up buying an Audi A6. It's almost perfect for me, a nice combination of luxury, sport and sophistication.
